Maturin, Venezuela…[Libna Stevens/IAD]

More than 600 pathfinders from east Venezuela participated in a camporee focused on health at the Morichal Campground in Maturin from August 1 to 7. Young people were taught the importance of exercise, sound nutrition, the effects of drugs and how their choices are the basis for a healthy life.

With the theme “Encounter with God,” hundreds of pathfinders were able to have one-on-one visitations with Elie S. Honore, M.D., Health Ministries director for the church in Inter-America. Honore led the health topics and answered questions on health and other issues concerning the young people at the event. He stressed that everything we do is a choice and choices have consequences.

As a result of the week-long camporee, 40 young people made the decision to be baptized. Twenty-nine of those were baptized on Sabbath, August 7 at the campground’s river.
