El presidente de Valley View University (Universidad de Valley View, o VVU por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), Seth Abang Laryea, recibi\u00f3 recientemente uno de los premios nacionales m\u00e1s altos de Ghana concedidos a ciudadanos particulares, la Orden de Volta, en reconocimiento de sus contribuciones para la educaci\u00f3n de nivel universitario. Conocida formalmente como Adventist Missionary College (Colegio Misionero Adventista), la universidad de Valley View fue establecida en 1979 por la Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo d\u00eda. <\/p>\n

El presidente de Ghana, John Agyekum Kuffour, present\u00f3 a Layrea el premio en una ceremonia llevada a cabo el 3 de julio de 2008 en el Centro Internacional de Conferencias de Accra. <\/p>\n

Layrea y otros 250 gahaneses recibieron reconocimiento por sus contribuciones excepcionales hacia el desarrollo y bienestar del pa\u00eds, dijo el presidente Kuffour. <\/p>\n

\u00abAprecio el premio y lo que representa\u00bb, dijo Layrea. \u00abCreo que hay cientos de personas que contribuyeron con el trabajo que di\u00f3 m\u00e9rito para ese premio\u00bb. <\/p>\n

El gobierno concedi\u00f3 a la VVU un ch\u00e1rter presidencial en mayo de 2006, haci\u00e9ndola la primera universidad privada con ese privilegio en Ghana. <\/p>\n

Layrea es el segundo adventista del s\u00e9ptimo d\u00eda en recibir el Premio Orden de Volta de Ghana. Matthew Bediako, secretario ejecutivo de la Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo d\u00eda a nivel mundial, fue galardonado con la Orden por contribuciones religiosas en 2006.
