La instituci\u00f3n adventista otorg\u00f3 el grado durante los ejercicios de grados de la Universidad Adventista Antillana en Mayag\u00fc\u00e9z, Puerto Rico, el 29 de mayo. <\/p>\n<p>Al doctor Mel\u00e9ndez, quien se retir\u00f3 en el 2000 de la oficina de la sede de la Divisi\u00f3n Interamericana despu\u00e9s de servir como director de Ministerios Juveniles, se le dio uno de los honores m\u00e1s altos del liderazgo juvenil de parte de la Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda. Mel\u00e9ndez tambi\u00e9n sirvi\u00f3 como director de ministerios juveniles en los niveles de asociaci\u00f3n y uni\u00f3n en Puerto Rico y M\u00e9xico, as\u00ed como decano de estudiantes en el entonces Antillean College. <\/p>\n<p>El doctor Mel\u00e9ndez, un pionero l\u00edder juvenil que invisti\u00f3 a miles de j\u00f3venes y particip\u00f3 en m\u00e1s de 950 campamentos juveniles durante su ministerio, recibi\u00f3 su grado en plena regal\u00eda de manos de de dos de sus antiguos Conquistadores, el doctor Jaime Castrej\u00f3n, ahora presidente de IATS, y el doctor Efra\u00edn Vel\u00e1zquez, vicepresidente de asuntos acad\u00e9micos para IATS. <\/p>\n<p>Cuando al doctor Mel\u00e9ndez se le otorg\u00f3 el grado doctoral, \u00e9l ret\u00f3 a la audiencia a unirse a \u00e9l en la m\u00e1s grande celebraci\u00f3n&#8230;   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recientemente, el Seminario Teol\u00f3gico Adventista de Interam\u00e9rica (IATS) concedi\u00f3 doctorado honor\u00edfico de Divinidad en Liderazgo Juvenil al pastor Eliezer Mel\u00e9ndez.
