El 6 de septiembre del presente, Jayden Melius, de once a\u00f1os, quien asiste a la iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda Balham y miembro durante largo tiempo de United Children and Youth (UCY), recibi\u00f3 el Premio \u00a0<em>Young Hero<\/em> (Joven h\u00e9roe).<\/p>\n<p>El jovencito Melius, quien ha formado parte de UCY desde que ten\u00eda cuatro a\u00f1os, fue premiado por su entrega al servicio de la comunidad. Presta sus servicios voluntarios en la residencia de ancianos local, al pasar su tiempo libre conviviendo con los residentes, muchos de los cuales sufren de demencia; a trav\u00e9s de actividades art\u00edsticas, juegos, conversaciones significativas y m\u00fasica. A principios de este a\u00f1o particip\u00f3 en un marat\u00f3n de nado, recaudando con ello m\u00e1s de 500 libras esterlinas, un equivalente a 677 d\u00f3lares estadounidenses, en favor de Cancer Research UK.<\/p>\n<p>El joven Melius no es solamente un voluntario en su comunidad, sino tambi\u00e9n un m\u00fasico y joven predicador en ciernes dentro de la Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda. Su crecimiento espiritual, cualidades de l\u00edder y entrega al servicio, se han hecho evidentes desde muy peque\u00f1o, afirman los miembros de la Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda Balham. Quienes lo han visto crecer, incluyendo a los l\u00edderes de UCY, lo describen como una luz natural, un marcador de nuevos senderos y una inspiraci\u00f3n para sus compa\u00f1eros.<\/p>\n<p>Craige Young, director de UCY, expres\u00f3 su gran orgullo por el joven Melius al recibir su reconocimiento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl ver a Jayden recibiendo este honor reafirma la misi\u00f3n de UCY \u2014crear, empoderar y formar j\u00f3venes que representen una diferencia significativa en su esfera.
