Se estima que unas setenta mil personas se reunieron para el culto del s\u00e1bado por la ma\u00f1ana en el Congreso de la Asociaci\u00f3n General 2010 de Atlanta, Georgia, Estados Unidos. Se estima que entre 25 a 30 millones de hombres, mujeres y ni\u00f1os asisten cada semana a los cultos adventistas. La iglesia no bautiza a los infantes o a los ni\u00f1os muy j\u00f3venes, de all\u00ed la brecha entre los asistentes y los miembros bautizados.<\/p>\n

En octubre pasado, G. T. Ng, secretario ejecutivo de la Iglesia Adventista, destac\u00f3 el crecimiento continuado de la feligres\u00eda de la iglesia: \u201cEn un d\u00eda promedio, 3052 personas se unen a la iglesia. Cada hora, se bautizan 127 personas. Cada minuto, se bautizan dos individuos, y alabamos a Dios por ello\u201d, le dijo a los l\u00edderes de la iglesia durante su informe con motivo del Concilio Anual 2013 en Silver Spring, Maryland.<\/p>\n

David Trim, quien dirige la Secretar\u00eda de Archivos, Estad\u00edsticas e Investigaciones, se refiri\u00f3 a este hito: \u201cNos entusiasma este crecimiento en un momento en que, en t\u00e9rminos globales, muchos grupos religiosos ya no est\u00e1n creciendo. Agradecemos a Dios porque, a pesar de desaf\u00edos tales como la opresi\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, la persecuci\u00f3n religiosa, y el creciente materialismo y secularismo, este movimiento, que enfatiza la esperanza y la plenitud, sigue creciendo y ahora ha superado este hito estad\u00edstico\u201d.<\/p>\n

La Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda, que fue organizada en 1863, opera 112 colegios superiores y universidades, m\u00e1s de 1900 escuelas secundarias, y casi 6000 escuelas primarias, con una matriculaci\u00f3n total de m\u00e1s de 1.750.000, adem\u00e1s de 172 hospitales que atienden cada a\u00f1o a m\u00e1s de 16 millones de personas. El compromiso de la iglesia con el servicio a la humanidad incluye la Agencia Adventista de Desarrollo y Recursos Asistenciales (ADRA), as\u00ed como campa\u00f1as de evangelizaci\u00f3n y ministerios de medios que buscan compartir los mensajes de los tres \u00e1ngeles con un mundo que necesita respuestas con sustento b\u00edblico.<\/p>\n
