Imagen por TED<\/p><\/div>\n<p>1 de mayo de 2015 | Silver Spring, Maryland, Estados Unidos |Andrew McChesney, editor de noticias, Adventist Review<\/p>\n<p>La Iglesia Adventista del S\u00e9ptimo D\u00eda en Hungr\u00eda y un grupo de centenares de separatistas ex adventistas han acordado poner a un lado sus pasadas querellas y esforzarse en subsanar 40 a\u00f1os de divisi\u00f3n entre ambos.<\/p>\n<p>La iglesia en Hungr\u00eda se dividi\u00f3 en 1975 en medio de una protesta por parte de j\u00f3venes pastores y otros miembros por causa de la colaboraci\u00f3n de los dirigentes locales con el Concilio de Iglesias Libres, un organismo formado para representar los intereses comunes de las peque\u00f1as denominaciones protestantes que m\u00e1s tarde llegaron a convertirse en instrumentos del r\u00e9gimen comunista.<\/p>\n<p>Tam\u00e1s \u00d3csai, presidente de la Uni\u00f3n Asociaci\u00f3n de Hungr\u00eda, firm\u00f3 un documento titulado \u201cDeclaraci\u00f3n conjunta sobre resoluci\u00f3n respecto al pasado y edificaci\u00f3n de un futuro en com\u00fan\u201d, con J\u00e1nos Cserbik, dirigente de KERAK, como se conoce al grupo separatista, en una ceremonia a finales de la semana pasada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe siento muy complacido de que esta ruptura y distanciamiento de 40 a\u00f1os est\u00e1 llegando a su fin para la mayor\u00eda de las personas\u201d, dijo Benjamin D. Al llegar a este acuerdo, la Iglesia Adventista reconoce que expuls\u00f3 al grupo disidente de 518 creyentes, mayormente sin m\u00e9rito alguno en 1975.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespu\u00e9s de mucha agitaci\u00f3n, que conmovi\u00f3 a la iglesia hasta sus cimientos, el grupo fue expulsado de la fraternidad de la iglesia, mayormente sin una v\u00e1lida raz\u00f3n b\u00edblica\u201d, dijo en una declaraci\u00f3n la Divisi\u00f3n Transeuropea de la Iglesia Adventista, que incluye la regi\u00f3n de Hungr\u00eda.<br \/>\nLos creyentes que quedaron fuera de la fraternidad de la iglesia adventista se organizaron inicialmente a s\u00ed mismos como una iglesia clandestina en lo que era entonces un pa\u00eds del bloque sovi\u00e9tico, pero m\u00e1s tarde ese grupo surgi\u00f3 con el nombre oficial KERAK, equivalente a Comunidad Cristiana Adventista.<\/p>\n<p>KERAK y la Iglesia Adventista comenzaron a apartarse la una de la otra cada vez m\u00e1s, tanto espiritual como cultural y estructuralmente a trav\u00e9s de los a\u00f1os, en un proceso que se aceler\u00f3 despu\u00e9s del colapso del r\u00e9gimen comunista 1989. Los dirigentes adventistas en todos los niveles de la iglesia buscaron reunir en una sola a la iglesia h\u00fangara y varios pastores y aun congregaciones enteras se unieron de nuevo a la Iglesia Adventista.<\/p>\n<p>Los dirigentes adventistas pidieron disculpas cuatro veces, entre 1989 y 1995, pero algunos miembros de KERAK no estaban listos para aceptarlos y otros no ten\u00edan conocimiento de ellos, dijeron el viernes los dirigentes de iglesias locales.<\/p>\n<p>Las discusiones en pro de la unificaci\u00f3n parec\u00edan no ir a ninguna parte y las conversaciones serias concluyeron alrededor del a\u00f1o 2000.<\/p>\n<p>En el 2011, una nueva generaci\u00f3n de dirigentes de KERAK inici\u00f3 una serie de conversaciones con los dirigentes de la uni\u00f3n y las asociaciones. Despu\u00e9s de escuchar que el grupo estaba interesado en regresar a la Iglesia Adventista, el presidente de la iglesia mundial, Pastor Ted N.C. Wilson, le pidi\u00f3 al vicepresidente Schoun que estudiara la situaci\u00f3n. Se hicieron arreglos para que el vicepresidente Schoun y el asistente del presidente de la Divisi\u00f3n Transeuropea, Raafat Kamal, se sentaran a la mesa de negociaciones con KERAK y los dirigentes de la iglesia en Hungr\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa primera reuni\u00f3n fue mayormente para escuchar y conocer exactamente los factores\u201d, dijo el vicepresidente Schoun.<\/p>\n<p>El vicepresidente viaj\u00f3 a Hungr\u00eda varias veces m\u00e1s con el presidente Raafat Kamal, actual presidente de la divisi\u00f3n, as\u00ed como con el ex presidente de la misma, Bertil Wiklander. Image by TED<\/p><\/div>\n<p>May 1, 2015 | Silver Spring, Maryland, United States |Andrew McChesney, news editor, Adventist Review<\/p>\n<p>The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hungary and a breakaway group of hundreds of former Adventists has agreed to put aside past grievances and work toward healing a 40-year schism.<\/p>\n<p>The Hungarian church split in 1975 amid a protest by young pastors and other members over local church leaders\u2019 collaboration with the Council of Free Churches, a body formed to represent the common interests of small Protestant denominations that later become a tool of the communist state.<\/p>\n<p>Tam\u00e1s \u00d3csai, president of the Hungarian Union Conference, signed a document titled \u201cJoint Declaration on Settling the Past and Building a Common Future\u201d with J\u00e1nos Cserbik, leader of KERAK, as the splinter group is known, at a ceremony late last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very pleased that this 40-year rift is coming to an end for most of the people,\u201d said Benjamin D. Schoun, a general vice president of the Adventist world church, who played a key role in bringing the two sides toward reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a testimony to the use of biblical methods for reconciliation and the willingness on the part of both sides to step out toward each other,\u201d Schoun told the Adventist Review on Friday. \u201cThey still have many details to work out, and we should continue to pray for this initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Adventist Church in Hungary has 4,629 members worshiping in 104 churches, while KERAK has 1,500 to 1,800 members, local church leaders said Friday. Church leaders anticipate that around 600 members will return this summer, while 400 do not intend to come back and the rest are open to the idea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Long Road to Reconciliation<\/strong><br \/>\nThe long-waited reconciliation document is seen as a first step toward reuniting the two sides. In reaching the agreement, the Adventist Church acknowledged that it had expelled the dissenting group of 518 believers largely without merit in 1975.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much turmoil, which rocked the church to the core, the group was disfellowshipped, mostly without a valid biblical reason,\u201d the Adventist Church\u2019s Trans-European Division, which includes Hungary, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The disfellowshipped believers initially organized themselves as an underground church in what was then a Soviet Bloc country, but the group later emerged as the official denomination KERAK, or Christian Adventist Community.<\/p>\n<p>KERAK and the Adventist Church began to drift apart in spirituality, culture and organization structure over the years, a process that accelerated after the collapse of the communist regime in 1989. Adventist leaders from all levels of the church sought to reunite the Hungarian church, and several pastors and even congregations rejoined the Adventist Church.<\/p>\n<p>Adventist leaders apologized four times between 1989 and 1995, but some KERAK members were not ready to accept them and others were unaware of them, local church leaders said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The unification discussions seemed to go nowhere, and serious talks ceased around 2000.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, a new generation of KERAK leaders initiated a series of talks with union and conference leadership. Upon hearing that the group might be interested in returning, Adventist world church president Ted N.C. Wilson asked Schoun to look into the situation. Arrangements were made for Schoun and the assistant to the president of the Trans-European Division, Raafat Kamal, to visit with KERAK and church leaders in Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first meeting was largely a listening and fact-finding event,\u201d Schoun said.<\/p>\n<p>Schoun traveled to Hungary several more times with Kamal, who is now the division president, as well as with former division president Bertil Wiklander.
