La Junta Directiva de la Asociaci\u00f3n General de la Iglesia Adventista vot\u00f3 la semana pasada aceptar la recomendaci\u00f3n del doctor Elie Henry como presidente y el doctor Leonard Johnson como secretario ejecutivo de la Divisi\u00f3n Interamericana. Ambos nombres fueron votados el 10 de abril en Silver Spring, Maryland, durante una de las sesiones administrativas de la junta de gobierno de la iglesia.<\/p>\n

El doctor Elie Henry ser\u00e1 presidente electo hasta fines de julio, cuando el pastor Israel Leito se jubilar\u00e1 como presidente, dijo G. T. Ng, secretario ejecutivo de la iglesia mundial, antes de que se tomara el voto. \u201cEl doctor Henry ser\u00e1 presidente a partir del 1 de agosto de 2018\u201d, dijo Ng.<\/p>\n

\u201cEs un privilegio poner esto a vuestra consideraci\u00f3n\u201d, dijo Wilson al dirigirse a la comisi\u00f3n. \u201cLa junta de la Divisi\u00f3n Interamericana tom\u00f3 hace poco el voto de recomendaci\u00f3n<\/a> del doctor Henry, y por fe decidimos avanzar\u201d.<\/p>\n

El doctor Leonard Johnson tambi\u00e9n fue votado secretario ejecutivo electo hasta el 1 de agosto de 2018, cuando asumir\u00e1 oficialmente el cargo. Johnson ha estado fungiendo como director ministerial asociado de la Uni\u00f3n del Caribe Atl\u00e1ntico, que supervisa el trabajo de la iglesia en las Bahamas, las Islas Caim\u00e1n y Turcos y Caicos.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl doctor Johnson es una persona muy equilibrada y alguien que recibi\u00f3 el fuerte apoyo de la comisi\u00f3n de nombramientos de Interam\u00e9rica para efectuar una recomendaci\u00f3n de que sea elegido secretario ejecutivo\u201d, dijo el pastor Wilson.<\/p>\n

La Junta Directiva de la Asociaci\u00f3n General tambi\u00e9n honr\u00f3 al pastor Israel Leito, presidente de la Iglesia Adventista en Interam\u00e9rica, por su liderazgo y servicio extendido a la iglesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cEn nombre de la iglesia mundial y el m\u00edo propio, queremos agradecerle por la tremenda manera dedicada en que ha invertido su vida en la obra de la iglesia, y por haber dado ese \u00e9nfasis a la misi\u00f3n y la obra comunitaria y misionera de este precioso movimiento adventista\u201d, dijo el pastor Wilson al hablar con el pastor Leito y la comisi\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p>\n

El pastor Leito agradeci\u00f3 a la comisi\u00f3n por permitirle servir a la iglesia durante tantos a\u00f1os. Se\u00f1al\u00f3 los m\u00e1s de 30 a\u00f1os que fue parte de la Junta Directiva de la Asociaci\u00f3n General.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespu\u00e9s de servir a la iglesia [como presidente de la Divisi\u00f3n Interamericana] por casi 25 a\u00f1os, es tiempo de dejar de pensar que el Se\u00f1or no tiene otras personas para hacer la tarea\u201d, dijo el pastor Leito. \u201cEsta iglesia le pertenece a Cristo, y alabo al Se\u00f1or por lo que ha hecho en su iglesia. Agradezco tambi\u00e9n a la Asociaci\u00f3n General por el privilegio de servir a esta iglesia durante tanto tiempo\u201d.<\/p>\n

El pastor Leito dijo que continuar\u00e1 sirviendo a la iglesia detr\u00e1s de escena. Anim\u00f3 a los l\u00edderes a que sean fieles y contin\u00faen trabajando y sirviendo a la iglesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cHay tanto para hacer, y el Se\u00f1or nos usar\u00e1 si somos lo suficientemente humildes para ser usados por \u00e9l\u201d, dijo a los miembros de la junta. \u201cGracias por ser amigos, por ayudarme a crecer y por fortalecer a la iglesia de Dios\u201d.<\/p>\n

El pastor Leito anunci\u00f3 su jubilaci\u00f3n del servicio a la Divisi\u00f3n Interamericana<\/a> durante las reuniones de mitad de a\u00f1o que se llevaron en la iglesia regional el mes pasado.<\/p>\n
