De acuerdo con una oficina local encargada de asistencia social y derechos humanos, en Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil, en los \u00faltimos dos a\u00f1os, 7,980 venezolanos han encontrado refugio en uno de los albergues municipales de Brasil. La \u00faltima caravana de inmigrantes procedentes de Venezuela arrib\u00f3 al norte de Brasil el 27 de noviembre de 2021. La caravana inclu\u00eda a 89 personas con unas cuantas maletas y muchos sue\u00f1os para reconstruir su vida despu\u00e9s de varios a\u00f1os de una econom\u00eda en declive y disturbios sociales.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeseo comenzar una nueva vida\u201d, dijo uno de los venezolanos que llegaron recientemente. \u201cHemos sufrido mucho en nuestro pa\u00eds\u201d, Esta misma persona indic\u00f3 que, al comienzo, cuando cruzaron la frontera con Brasil, su situaci\u00f3n era extrema. \u201cCaminamos todo el trayecto hasta Pacaraima y dormimos en la calle. Fue muy dif\u00edcil; parec\u00eda que nos encontr\u00e1bamos todav\u00eda en Venezuela\u201d, dijo. \u201cSolamente hasta llegar aqu\u00ed a Manaus las cosas han mejorado despu\u00e9s de haber llegado a un refugio\u201d.<\/p>\n

Familias asistidas por voluntarios de la Iglesia Adventista reciben una Biblia y un libro misionero. [Imagen: Noticias de la Divisi\u00f3n Sudamericana]<\/p><\/div>Los refugiados, huyendo del hambre y los disturbios, viven en un estado de vulnerabilidad y llegan a Brasil con altos \u00edndices de malnutrici\u00f3n, especialmente los ni\u00f1os. De acuerdo a algunos estudios, 26 de cada 30 ni\u00f1os est\u00e1n mostrando se\u00f1ales de crecimiento retardado. Sufren tambi\u00e9n de enfermedades de la piel y de un comprometido sistema inmune.<\/p>\n

Otra venezolana reci\u00e9n llegada arrib\u00f3 con sus tres ni\u00f1os, un t\u00edo y un primo. Dijo lo siguiente: \u201cCreemos en Dios y oramos mucho porque pudi\u00e9ramos liberarnos de la vida que ten\u00edamos en Venezuela. Ahora podemos comenzar a so\u00f1ar nuevamente\u201d.<\/p>\n

Asistencia generosa<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los refugiados han estado por mucho tiempo dependiendo de la ayuda brindada por los residentes de la regi\u00f3n, quienes ya han recibido a muchos inmigrantes. Y aqu\u00ed es donde se hace presente la labor voluntaria de los adventistas del s\u00e9ptimo d\u00eda, dedicados a hacer m\u00e1s bellas y c\u00f3modas las nuevas habitaciones de esas familias. \u201cNos sentimos gozosos al ver felices a los ni\u00f1os, a las familias recibiendo regalos con un brillo en sus ojos\u201d, dijo la directora regional de Ministerio de la Mujer, Meiryanne Rezzuto. \u201cEstamos poniendo en pr\u00e1ctica el amor de Jes\u00fas\u201d.<\/p>\n

Recientemente, voluntarios adventistas, incluyendo a quienes prestan servicios en las oficinas regionales de la iglesia, dedicaron un d\u00eda a pintar el lugar. \u201cEventos tales como \u201810 D\u00edas de Oraci\u00f3n\u2019 nos ayudan a enfocar nuestra atenci\u00f3n en este tipo de actividades\u201d, dijo el presidente de la Asociaci\u00f3n Amazonas-Roraima, Mark Wallace Ribeiro. \u201cEstas iniciativas ayudan a los pastores a vivir una vida de servicio de la manera que Jes\u00fas nos ense\u00f1\u00f3.<\/p>\n
