[Une photo des actualit\u00e9s d\u2019AdventHealth]<\/span><\/p><\/div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mme\u00a0Galloway est r\u00e9cemment devenue la toute premi\u00e8re patiente du monde \u00e0 subir une toute nouvelle proc\u00e9dure au surnom de \u00ab\u00a0canne en bonbon\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 cause de la forme de l\u2019intestin gr\u00eale avant l\u2019op\u00e9ration. Une partie probl\u00e9matique de l\u2019intestin, qui ressemble au bout courb\u00e9 d\u2019une canne en bonbon, est r\u00e9duite \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un dispositif endoscopique converti \u00e0 cette nouvelle utilit\u00e9. Une seconde proc\u00e9dure s\u2019ensuit, o\u00f9 un nouveau canal est cr\u00e9\u00e9 pour la nourriture. Les deux proc\u00e9dures se font sans la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019une op\u00e9ration traditionnelle, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un endoscope et \u00e0 d\u2019autres dispositifs approuv\u00e9s par l\u2019Agence am\u00e9ricaine des produits alimentaires et m\u00e9dicamenteux (FDA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apr\u00e8s discussion avec Mme Galloway et son mari, ces derniers ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019aller de l\u2019avant avec l\u2019op\u00e9ration. Pr\u00eate \u00e0 tout, elle a subi la premi\u00e8re des deux proc\u00e9dures cons\u00e9cutives en mars 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Quand le Dr K. est entr\u00e9 dans la chambre, il s\u2019est assis avec mon mari et moi et a pris le temps de faire des dessins pour nous expliquer la proc\u00e9dure en d\u00e9tail et la fa\u00e7on dont il allait m\u2019aider, a dit Mme Galloway. Je n\u2019ai jamais vu un m\u00e9decin agir ainsi. [Une photo des actualit\u00e9s d\u2019AdventHealth]<\/span><\/p><\/div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Nous avons r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 donner une nouvelle utilit\u00e9 \u00e0 des outils gastroent\u00e9rologiques approuv\u00e9s par la FDA pour effectuer une proc\u00e9dure semblable \u00e0 une op\u00e9ration, mais moins invasive\u00a0\u00bb, a expliqu\u00e9 le docteur Kadkhodayan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dire que les derniers mois ont transform\u00e9 la vie de Mme Galloway serait un euph\u00e9misme. Lorsqu\u2019elle est venue \u00e0 AdventHealth pour la premi\u00e8re proc\u00e9dure, cela faisait trois mois qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait nourrie par intraveineuse, parce qu\u2019elle n\u2019arrivait pas toujours \u00e0 garder sa nourriture. Apr\u00e8s la seconde proc\u00e9dure, elle a quitt\u00e9 l\u2019h\u00f4pital et a mang\u00e9 son premier repas, en savourant chaque bouch\u00e9e. Depuis lors, elle mange normalement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Je n\u2019ai plus \u00e0 prendre de m\u00e9dicaments contre la naus\u00e9e ni \u00e0 tra\u00eener des sacs partout o\u00f9 je vais au cas o\u00f9 je vomirais, a-t-elle expliqu\u00e9. Je n\u2019ai plus \u00e0 compter sur Google Maps pour pr\u00e9voir mes trajets en fonction des stations d\u2019essence avec toilettes.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le syndrome de la canne en bonbon affecte les patients qui, comme Mme Galloway, ont subi un pontage gastrique et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 des inconforts abdominaux importants, voire d\u00e9bilitants. Je ne peux vous dire \u00e0 quel point il est gratifiant et satisfaisant pour un m\u00e9decin de savoir que nous avons cr\u00e9\u00e9 une proc\u00e9dure qui pourra aider d\u2019innombrables patients \u00e0 l\u2019avenir.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le Dr Kadkhodayan reconna\u00eet l\u2019approche multidisciplinaire d\u2019AdventHealth pour la r\u00e9ussite de cette proc\u00e9dure r\u00e9volutionnaire. Le fait de r\u00e9unir plusieurs types de sp\u00e9cialistes pour discuter de la situation de Mme Galloway a permis d\u2019innover davantage et d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la vie des patients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Le Dr K. m\u2019a donn\u00e9 de l\u2019espoir. Je ne faisais qu\u2019aller aux toilettes pour vomir, qu\u2019aller \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital, mais cette op\u00e9ration m\u2019a permis de retourner travailler \u00e0 temps plein et de passer du temps avec ma famille \u00e0 nouveau. Je peux enfin sortir au restaurant, manger en famille et aller \u00e0 la plage\u00a0\u00bb, a dit Mme Galloway.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ce fut un long parcours, parfois douloureux, pour Mme Galloway depuis son premier pontage gastrique en 2009, mais elle arrive maintenant \u00e0 garder la nourriture qu\u2019elle ing\u00e8re et \u00e0 vivre plus normalement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette op\u00e9ration novatrice.
