Scarborough, Tobago….[Nord Punch/IAD Staff]

The Tobago Mission of Seventh-day Adventists became the eighth field organized in the Caribbean Union Conference, or region, in a ceremony held on Nov. 21. Administrators and delegates from the region met at the Harmon Secondary School on the island of Tobago to celebrate the birth of the mission and appoint new leaders.

Official administrators appointed included Clyde Thomas as president, and Clyde Lewis as secretary-treasurer. Full-time department directors included Irwin Scott for Personal Ministers, Ein Kirk for Health, Stewardship and Trust Services, and Wilfred Des Vignes for Education, Communication and Religious Liberty. Parti-time directors included Toney Mapp for Youth Ministries, Martin Cunningham as Ministerial Secretary and Cindy Lorde for Women and Children Ministries.

Located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean and northeast of Venezuela, the Island of Tobago has a population of 54,100, and more than 7,000 Seventh-day Adventist members worshiping in 30 churches.
