Communicators from throughout Inter America and South America met for the 6th Annual Radio Mundial Adventista – Voz de la Esperanza [Adventist World Radio, Voice of Hope] meetings in Miami, Florida, on March 2-4.
With over 50 radio stations throughout the Americas using programming available from AWR Voz de la Esperanza, the annual meetings allow networking among studio personnel to provide quality programming to radio listeners everywhere, says Greg Scott, Senior Vice President for Adventist World Radio.
“The annual meetings allow interaction among studio personnel to come together to coordinate and discuss and improve current programming, the cross fertilization of ideas and introduce training on technical matters, new equipment, software and standardize some equipment as much as possible,” says Scott. Scott was present at the meetings held at the Inter-American Division headquarters in Miami, Florida.
Victor Shepherd, AWR Regional director for the Americas, says that AWR Voz de la Esperanza is intensely working throughout the IAD territory, providing Spanish programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, that is being broadcasted by 18 stations.
“Right now we are broadcasting to Cuba for two hours a day through Radio Netherlands Bonair,” says Sheperd of the medical program aired throughout the island. Although response to the program is not easy to get because of the political condition in Cuba, Shepherd, who visited the country last December, reports that the radio program is widely heard in the capital of Havana. He says the program includes a Bible course in a small group study format. The program can be heard on showrtwave 6165 Mhz, 49 meterband 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. Cuba time. Shepherd says he, along with the church leadership in Cuba, continue to evaluate results in the island.
Radio Mundial Adventista – Voz de la Esperanza has been serving the Seventh-day Adventist Church and international community since 1979 with international radio stations throughout the Americas, transmitting programs that benefit its listeners throughout specific cultural areas.
