Scarborough, Tobago…[Libna Stevens/IAD]

Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) for the Inter-American Division territory met in the Caribbean island of Tobago for its sixth annual meeting on August 17-21. More than 150 ASI members and guests were in attendance to share their witnessing experiences in their respective market places.

ASI members attending the event participated in seminars and created projects to implement in their business communities.

Part of the convention included the re-election of Robert Maycock as IAD/ASI president for an additional two-year term, as well as four vice presidents: Jorge Irias, Juan Rosa, Lyndon Antoine, and Tania Francois-Haugrin. Beulah A. Peterson returns as ASI treasurer as well as Leon B. Wellington as the organization’s secretary.

During the convention, a special offering was collected and pledged by ASI members that will go towards a half-way house for people in need in Tobago.

Next year, regional ASI conventions will take place throughout the territory of the IAD due to the 2005 General Conference Session. The International IAD/ASI Annual Convention will resume in 2006, in Panama.

ASI is an organization of Business and Professional persons who, as members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, use their business and business contacts to foster the mission of the Church.
