Sabbath, August 14, was no ordinary day for Sabana Hoyos Seventh-day Adventist Church, located in the northern region of Puerto Rico. On this special day, church leaders and members prepared to honor people with disabilities in their community. The Sabana Hoyos Church has been doing this every year for the last 18 years.

Visitors from different denominations and the community witnessed and participated in this special program, which was led by local church leaders and members.

The morning began with a jubilant song service, followed by special music by people with special needs. Some of the disabled gave personal testimonies of their experience with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, recounting how the church has been a blessing and source of strength in their lives and throughout the years. Many expressed the love they felt that day from the church members.  The special guests were treated to a lunch and gifts.

Egelia Rosa and Margarita Marrero, who are members of the Sabana Hoyos Church, started this program 18 years ago, and continue to inspire other members to be involved in the program.

We praise the name of the Lord for the blessing that He bestows to His church to be the light of the world and fulfil its mission,” said Hector Matias, communication director for the church in Puerto Rico. Matias was present in the special Sabbath celebration. “We thank the Lord Jesus for our brethren who are dedicated to His work there,” he added.
