San Juan, Puerto Rico…[IAD Staff]

A group of Seventh-day Adventist young people from Litheda and Cupey Alto churches distributed gospel reading materials to Puerto Rico's legislators and government employees in the capitol building in the midst of a two-week long partial government shutdown. They visited the building on May 6.

The shutdown was due to a budget crisis which led to protest marches and rallies throughout the island. Schools and government agencies remained closed to the public during the protests.

“God opened the doors for these young people to take the message full of hope, prayer and praises,” said Oreste Natera, communication director for the church in Puerto Rico.

The young people, dressed in shirts which read “The Ten Commandments, Live Them and Experience the Change”, were well received by legislators where they, along with Pastors Osvaldo Bernhardt and Angel Romero, were allowed to talk, pray and sing to those present, according to Natera.
