The Seventh-day Adventist church in the Caribbean region held its business session July 26-29 to elect church leaders for the next five years. More than 200 delegates representing the region's eight fields came together on the campus of the University of Southern Caribbean in Trinidad for the session.

Dr. Eugene F. Daniel was re-elected as union president. Pastor Cyril Horrell was elected as executive secretary, and Ms. Nevlyn Fridie as treasurer.

During the session, Dr. Daniel reported that 27,474 new members were added during 2000-2005, bringing the total membership to 195,255 in the union territory. He estimated that one in every 18 individuals in the territory is a Seventh-day Adventist, a ratio church leaders plan to increase in the next five years.

Other leaders elected were: Dr. Vernon Andrews as vice-president and education director; Samuel Telemaque as personal ministries and Sabbath School director; Clive Dottin as youth, health, and religious liberty director; James F. Daniel as stewardship, trust services and communication director; Andrew Farrel as ministerial and family ministries director; and Claudette J. Andrews as Women and children's ministries director.

There are 663 congregations in the Caribbean Union region. The region includes Trinidad, Grenada, North Caribbean, South Caribbean, Guyana, St. Lucia, Suriname, and Tobago.
