As the New Year peaked in, the office staff of the Inter-American Division (IAD) was focusing on Jesus at its headquarters in Miami, Florida, on Jan. 2. The more than 50 church leaders and employees which comprise the administrative headquarter workforce of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America had the opportunity to reflect spiritually with a special traditional worship service.

Pastor Ted Wilson, general vice president for the Adventist World Church, was the guest speaker during the morning program. He shared with the leadership and staff the need to lean on Jesus and allow Him to guide us as the end of time draws near.

“God is calling this church and the Inter-American Division to a unique opportunity in the year 2007, to allow Jesus to lead you according to His plan, for I believe as you do that Jesus is coming very soon,” said Pastor Wilson. “The signs are all around us, and what a happy experience that will be a happy and joyous time.”

“It’s a privilege to be a family, to be part of this great advent movement that is moving towards an incredible climax of earth’s history,” he continued. “And when you think of some of the things that are happening in the world today, you know that the end of time is very near. When you realize that the governments of the world cannot control events, that a handful of government leaders cannot sequester themselves and solve the problems, you know that the devil is busy in creating destruction, and the ultimate collapse of the world as we know it.”

Pastor Wilson reminded church workers of the immense responsibility to serve God and His church throughout the IAD territory.

“You have a sacred responsibility here in the Inter-American Division office to not only care for the administrative activities, the programming aspects, the administrative infrastructure of the church but you have a spiritual responsibility to encourage the brothers and sisters in every church in every locality within this vast division,” he exclaimed. “Stand firm for God in the year 2007. Stand close to Him. Allow Him to help you carry each others burdens…to be humble to be teachable to allow God to open the way before you.

In his concluding remarks, Pastor Wilson challenged the assembly to commit to God as the new year began.

The worship program also included a musical concert by Frank Artavia from Costa Rica. There was also a special prayer session for God’s guidance, and well wishes for the new year from staff.

The Inter-American Division Headquarters is located in Miami, Florida, United States, and oversees the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 15 regions with more than 2.8 million church members worshiping in and 9,080 churches and hundreds of congregations.
