Inter-America’s “Pentecost and More” satellite event which, took place last week in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was part of the official launch for the Adventist Spanish channel called Esperanza TV. Esperanza TV also broadcast a major event later the same day from the North American Division.
The “Pentecost and More” evangelism initiative, which involved IAD’s 15 church regions conducting territory-wide massive baptisms, was viewed around the world through several Adventist networks, including the new Esperanza TV.
During the live event, Pastor Israel Leito, president for the church in Inter-America, said that Inter-America is committed to supporting the channel.
“It’s a great joy for the Inter-American Division to have this celebration,” said Leito. “It is not only a day of celebration of victories that the Lord has given to a lot of people, but it is also the initial moment of a very special project in our Division.”
Kandus Thorpe, an executive of Hope Channel TV, the church’s English channel, shared with the audience her excitement about the launch of Esperanza TV.
“I can’t think of a better way to launch a new channel than with a high day like this like here from the Dominican Republic,” she said.
“It [the channel] is to be a window for the world to view the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Esperanza TV is to show the rest of the world the life of the church here in Inter-America,” Thorpe added.
Pastor Jan Paulsen, a featured speaker at “Pentecost and More”, publicly congratulated the IAD leadership on its participation of the launching of Esperanza TV.
Leito thanked the Adventist World Church for making Esperanza TV available to the IAD and pledged to support the channel and encourage the Spanish-speaking membership to tune in.
Inter-America will do its part to contribute programs to the Esperanza TV Channel to cater to Inter-America’s 11 Spanish-speaking regions.
