During last month’s executive committee meetings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America, a new field secretary was elected to facilitate the administrative work of the church in the division and to focus on small group ministries.

Pastor Melchor A. Ferreyra, formerly executive secretary for the South American Division, will serve as field secretary for the church in Inter-America. He becomes the Division’s second field secretary.

“Pastor Ferreyra comes to enrich the Division,” said Pastor Israel Leito, president for the church in Inter-America. “He is a specialist in small groups and will focus on that [area] and will be assisting in administrative matters as well.”

Originally from Peru, Pastor Ferreyra has more than 28 years of service in the church in South America and has worked as division executive secretary, union president, conference/mission president, as well as department director.

Pastor Ferreyra and his wife Meriviana are en route to Costa Rica where they will be based. They have three grown children.
