With four days remaining for the climax of Pentecost and More on March 15, 2008, the evangelistic efforts of the West Indies Union Conference are at ‘fever-pitched' levels. Jamaica will be host for the Inter-American Division Pentecost and More satellite event which will be seen worldwide.
The Union, with a membership of over 250,000 members and comprising the territories of Jamaica, The Bahamas, Turks & Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands, is currently involved in approximately one hundred and fifty (150) tents and church evangelistic campaigns along community outreach projects in some of these areas across the region. This is done in order to re-enact the ‘Day of Pentecost' in Acts Chapter 2, in baptizing 3,000 and more persons in a single day. Many baptisms have taken place since the start of the year.
“Over the past months we have followed a program to ensure the success of Pentecost and More,” said Pastor Patrick Allen, president of the church in West Indies region. “We have gone through our seasons of revival, training and equipping, community outreach, and we have prayed and fasted. Now that we are in the season of reaping, we continue to pray that God will give us a rich harvest, so that His name will be glorified.”
On Sabbath March 9, a special prayer was done in each territory for the successful execution of all the activities on the ‘Day of Pentecost.'
In addition to the planned baptism of over 3,000 in the region, and over 1,000 at the National Arena in Kingston, the three-and-a-half hours program planned for the ‘Day of Pentecost', will also involve a drama presentation, a message of hope from Pastor Israel Leito, president of the Adventist Church in Inter-America and highlights of the 15 church regions in Inter-America. This is being interspersed by baptism at their various locations and at the National Arena.
Pentecost and More will be broadcast live worldwide from the National Arena through The Hope Channel, Esperanza TV, 3ABN, 3ABN Latino, and Red Advenir Networks, at 9:30 a.m. Jamaica time or 10:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
The program at the National Arena is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. with praise and worship and a Sabbath school program.
Pentecost and More will also be viewed in over 60 downlink sites in West Indies Union.
Later in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. there will be a Service of Thanksgiving, Prayer and Praise with musical items from various groups and individual singers.
Pentecost and More is a soul-winning initiative of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists that envisions the involvement of every church member throughout the Division leading someone to Christ and ultimately to baptism and discipleship.
