Montemorelos University, a Seventh-day Adventist institution in Montemorelos, Mexico, granted an honorary doctorate to Filiberto Verduzco, top treasurer of the church in Inter-America, during the graduation ceremony June 1. Verduzco was recognized for his contribution to academic and professional development of the institution and the church in Inter-America. He was also the commencement speaker for the graduation.

Verduzco has been instrumental in developing strategic administrative financial models that have facilitated organizations to fulfill their evangelistic mission, stated Ismael Castillo, president of Montemorelos University.

Castillo said that in addition, Verduzco developed training programs for the financial administration of Inter-America's organizations and created strategic models and formulas of operation for the administration and optimization of the retirement funds of the Inter-American Division.

“His honorary doctorate is also being granted for his mentoring of a new generation of financial administrators,” stated Castillo.

Verduzco, who has a masters degree in business administration, has served as vice president of finances, vice president of development, and hospital administrator at Montemorelos University as well as health food manager in Mexico and Inter-America.
