Mrs. Gloria Trotman, women’s and children’s ministries director, as well as Shepherdess coordinator for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America, recently received a doctorate degree from Adventist-owned Northern Caribbean University, in Mandeville, Jamaica. Trotman, who flew to Jamaica from her home in Miami for the graduation ceremony on Aug. 10, 2008, received a Ph.D in Education with emphasis in Leadership.

“My life is the church,” says Trotman. “I wanted to get further qualified so that I could be of more service for my church.”

Trotman began her graduate degree while she was working as women’s and children’s ministries director for the church in the Caribbean Union and continued to pursue it after settling at the Inter-American Division headquarters in Miami, Florida, in 2005.

She holds a Master’s degree in education and counseling from the University of Virgin Islands. She has served the church for many years, including three decades as a high school teacher and counselor in Adventist schools in Trinidad and the Virgin Islands.

Originally from Guyana, Trotman is married to Pastor Jansen Trotman with whom they have four children and six grandchildren.
