Governor of the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, made a special visit to Adventist-owned Montemorelos University this week. Governor Jose Natividad Gonzalez, who was touring the southern region of the state, was invited by university officials for a special program honoring him on May 27.
“We wanted to acknowledge him with an award for opening several channels of collaboration among our institution and the state's cultural and health government office,” said Ismael Castillo, president of Montemorelos University.
The governor, in his second visit to the campus, thanked the university for the homage and praised the institution for its passion for music, culture, scientific development, technology, and health in the private and public sectors, as well as its social commitment and quality of education to the State of Nuevo Leon, he said.
Castillo said the governor has invited musical groups to state events as well as solicited support for several crisis situations in parts of the state. “We also have worked together in state programs for the benefit of underprivileged people,” Castillo said.
Established in 1942, Montemorelos University is an Adventist institution operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America. It is well known for its medical program and dozens of graduate and undergraduate degrees.
