Hundreds continued to pour into the Inter-American Division(IAD) booth in the Georgia World Congress Center exhibition hall during dayseven of the 59th General Conference Session in Atlanta, Georgia.
Featured in the IAD booth were the the Cuba Union and theInter-Oceanic Mexican Union.
Cuba Union
A growing church nestled in the Caribbean, the Cuba Union hasmore than 30,000 church members among a population of 12 million.
“Cuba is a very happy country and we feel good even thoughwe’ve had limitations,” says Jose Carballo, communication director of thechurch in Cuba. “People fervently work for the gospel and we continue to dowhat God allows us.”
The Cuba Union is divided into three church regions and boastsmore than 2,500 small group meeting every week.
Pastor Daniel Fontaine, president of the church in Cuba,says that the strong faith church members have in God has allowed for thechurch to grow even amid the situation on the island.
“Our brethren are a people prepared to face challenges witha lot of trust and faith in the Lord, and ready for the second coming,” PastorFontaine adds.
Inter-Oceanic MexicanUnion
One of four church territories in Mexico, the Inter-OceanicMexican Union is located in the center of the country, nestled between theAtlantic and Pacific oceans.
With just six years as a union mission, this church territoryis made up of eight states and boasts more than 167,000 members.
“Our church has a growing membership with committeddisciples involved in evangelism,” says Max Oviedo, communication director ofthe church in the Inter-Oceanic Mexican region.
The church operates six fields and some 947 churches andcongregations, as well as dozens of Adventist schools.
Both unions featured several of their musicians at the IAD’sperformance area during the day.
