Top leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America are serious about spiritual revival and reformation. So much so that it will be top priority in the upcoming church business meetings scheduled for next week.
“We are ready for this revival and reformation in Inter-America,” said Pastor Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America, as he met with top church leaders stationed at the church’s headquarters office in Miami, Florida, Oct. 25-28.
“The World church is calling for revival and reformation, and our main task is to stay on course and work towards accomplishing that vision down to every congregation throughout our territory,” explained Pastor Leito. “It doesn’t matter how many programs and initiatives we implement; if the church does not have a strong spiritual foundation, then it has no effect,” said Pastor Leito.
The plan for spiritual revival and reformation for the IAD will seek to involve the church and its members in prayer, praise and gratitude through a number of programmed activities set to be approved by the executive body of the church in Inter-America in the coming days.
IAD church leaders also studied and defined the next strategies that will set the course throughout the territory during the present quinquennium. The main strategic issues studied were revival and reformation, consolidation and retention of members, church growth and institutional development, and education and the church in the community.
“These are the strategies we want to work together on, as each department has its own identity yet moves together so that we can fulfill the needs of the church in the territory and are speaking the same language,” said Pastor Leito.
The new strategies, among other issues, will be presented in-depth and will have final approval from church executive committee next week during Inter-America’s Year-End Meetings scheduled for Nov. 4-5, in Fort-de-France, Martinique.
In addition, the following Inter-American Boards will vote in their administrators and officers on Nov. 1, in San Juan, Puerto Rico: Inter-American Publishing Association, Inter-American Education Center, Inter-American Health Food Company, Inter-American Theological Seminary, GEMA publishing house, Board of Higher Education as well as Montemorelos University Board.
