The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will hold a ministerial virtual council in October – one of the most ambitious coordinated online live events ever to take place in the Inter-American Division (IAD). The meeting will connect more than 3,000 ministers throughout the IAD territory to hear a special message from Adventist World President Pastor Ted N.C. Wilson and to discuss the church’s ongoing spiritual revival initiative called “Heeding the Word”.
Top church leaders throughout the IAD’s 21 church regions met yesterday via telephone conference to discuss the logistics of the virtual council. Leaders went over technical aspects of the online meeting, the structure of the program, connection testing, and planning follow-up activities after the live event.
The virtual council will allow ministers to meet, listen, support and plan activities to further support the aggressive spiritual revival activities geared to motivate church members to pray, study the Bible and share the gospel to a world in need.
“This is the first time in the history of the church that we will have the opportunity to be connected with all of our local fields and all of our ministers,” said Pastor Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America, during the conference call. “We want to ensure that you gather all of your pastors in your regions for this very important council.”
The online event will take place from the IAD office in Miami, Florida, on Oct. 26, 2011, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (Miami Time or Daylight Savings Time). The event is scheduled to be viewed from 118 local church fields spread out throughout the territory.
In addition to the message by Pastor Wilson and discussion of the revival initiative, the meeting will also include discussion of IAD initiatives and feature a special forum for pastors to submit questions live to the top leadership.
“‘Heeding the Word’ will be the main emphasis,” said Pastor Hector Sanchez, ministerial secretary for the church in Inter-America and main coordinator of the virtual council. “We want to continue focusing the study of the Bible and how we dream for our pastors to continue being fully involved in the revival and reformation initiative.”
“We want all the pastors to be singing from the same page, marching in the same direction with our revival and reformation initiative and our Vision One Million plan,” added Pastor Leito.
“The success of all of our programs depends largely on the leadership of our pastors, so we want to touch up on those initiatives and listen to our pastors, their needs and support their local programs to get our church members involved.”
