Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventists distributed more than 50,000 free copies of the The Great Controversy last month during a large coordinated event throughout the state of Veracruz, Mexico. The Great Controversy, a book authored by church co-founder Ellen G. White, details the war between Jesus Christ and Satan from throughout history to its conclusion during the end times.

The distribution event, coined as “Testifying” by church leaders, is part of a series of massive distribution efforts to take place throughout the year in the Inter-Oceanic Mexican region, said pastor Francisco Mora, district pastor for five municipal areas in Xalapa, Veracruz.

The event falls under part three of Inter-America’s comprehensive spiritual revival and reformation initiative, called “So That the World May Know”, which focuses on sharing the gospel in the community.

“The book had not been given out during evangelism campaigns previously but it’s an opportunity to clear some doubts regarding the end of the world, myths about the year 2012 and more,” Mora said.

In the city of Xalapa alone, more than 200 members distributed hundreds of books at the Juarez Park in front of the governor’s house and municipal palace.

Church leaders handed copies of the Book to Governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa and Mayor Elizabeth Morales.

The church in Veracruz is gearing up for another mass distribution of The Great Controversy in May, added Mora.
