Nearly 200 Seventh-day Adventist communicators from throughout Inter-America will gather next week for the region’s first territory-wide Communication Summit to network and seek more effective ways to impact the church and communities. The event, which will feature Adventist World Church leaders and experts in the field of communication technology, will take place Nov. 26-28, 2012, in Miami, Florida.

“With this summit, we will aim to help our professional communicators, or content producers inside or outside the church, understand that their primary focus as an Adventist Christian is to share the gospel through ever-changing technologies in an attractive and desirable manner,” says Pastor Leon B. Wellington, communication director for the church in Inter-America and organizer of the event.

Communicators will have the chance to hear and speak to top Adventist church leaders and communication experts in order to become creative disciples in the church and in the community.

“It’s about harmonizing our message in the expanding arena of the media,” adds Pastor Wellington.

The summit will provide an opportunity for better use of radio and television, social media and more within church organizations and the public in general– something organizers are looking forward to.

“We are excited to have so many Adventist communicators gathering for this summit so that we can exchange ideas, learn together and establish stronger networks towards fulfilling the mission of the church in our territory,” says Abel Marquez, associate communication director for the church in Inter-America.

The three-day event is scheduled to run through Nov. 28, 2012.
