Twenty-two Seventh-day Adventist finalists from each of Inter-America’s church territories will compete for this year’s Bible Boom winner title on Dec. 8, 2012, in Champ Fleurs, Trinidad.

With numerous competitions under their belt, each of the finalists have less than 48 hours to study and review their knowledge of Romans, 1st and 2nd Corinthians and Galatians.

Previously called the Bible Bowl, this year’s 9th annual Bible Boom finale continues to include more young people actively participating in the study of the Scriptures.

“We are excited to have had some 70 percent of children and young people in Inter-America participating in this year’s competition,” says Pastor Benjamin Carballo, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America. Carballo says the Bible Boom allows for more levels of competitions at local church, regional, mission/conference level, university and union level, allowing more children to participate Adventurer Clubs, as well as students at colleges and universities.

Four of the finalists this year are returning territory finalists from last year and previous years, explains Carballo. “That’s really exciting that these young people have continued participating and getting to this final level.”

According to Carballo, new for this year’s final competition will be a series of 20 questions for the first round. The top ten finalists will then answer 20 more questions for the second and final rounds for the top spot.

Up for grabs is the Bible Boom trophy and a scholarship to the University of Southern Caribbean in Trinidad, as well as other prizes for the top three finalists.

Inter-America’s Bible Boom finale competition will be streamed live over the internet on Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. Trinidad Time or 1:30 p.m. Miami Time. The live transmission will be held in English from the Mt. Dor Seventh-day Adventist Church in Champ Fleurs, Trinidad.

A special vespers program on Friday Dec. 7, will be streamed live beginning at 7:00 p.m. Trinidad Time  (6:00 p.m. Miami Time) as well as Sabbath, Dec. 8, morning’s program beginning at 9:00 a.m. Trinidad Time (8:00 a.m. Miami Time).
