The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Colombia recently launched its online radio and television stations during a special ceremony from its new studios in Medellin, Colombia.
The event, held last month, marked a historic accomplishment for the 167,000-strong membership in the region, church leaders said. The church now has its first official Adventist web-based radio station—Esperanza Colombia Radio in Colombia, as well as the first online Esperanza Colombia TV channel.
“Both media outlets become a channel in which the church can strengthen its faith and a means to share hope with listeners and viewers online,” said Pastor Ezequiel Rueda, communication director for the church in North Colombia.
Thanks to the commitment of generous offerings by church members across the eight regions comprising the Union, the new studios were built in a modern facility with state-of-the-art equipment, according to Dubiel Quintero, treasurer of the church in North Colombia.
“I am so delighted because this flagship project is now a reality this quinquennium,” said Pastor Edgar Redondo, president of the church in North Colombia. “I am grateful to God because He has seen us through in each step, and to the membership who have been generous in supporting us with their resources and prayers.”
The launch is a new phase in communication for the church, added Rueda. The radio station runs 24 hours a day and the television channel features various programs on-demand including segments on health, music performances, Bible reflections, children’s program and church online service.
“These new stations give members the opportunity to share hope, invite their co-workers, their friends, and their neighbors to connect and find a programs of hope and blessing,” said Robreto Carvajal, church pastor in the East Colombia region as he witnessed the launch ceremony.
Plans are underway to produce additional programs for the church’s official television channel Esperanza TV, Rueda said.
