The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America will wrap up its Year of Non-Formal Education with a special live program from Willemstad, Curacao, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. Curacao Time (or Eastern Daylight Time). Thousands of laypersons, pastors and administrators will be awarded certifications for completing specialized training to better serve the church and the community.

The three-hour live transmission will represent the culmination of certification programs held throughout the Inter-American Division (IAD) this year by all of the church’s departments and ministries, said Dr. Myrna Costa, vice president overseeing education for the church in Inter-America and main organizer of the live program.

“With this celebration, we want to highlight Inter-America’s emphasis of educating and instructing the membership during this quinquennium [five-year period], and the importance the church has given during the past decades to preparing and guiding its members throughout the territory,” said Dr. Costa.

The live program will feature messages from IAD top leadership and the distribution of about 1,000 certificates.

Elsewhere across Inter-America, diplomas will be handed out on the same day to church members who have completed certification programs this year.

According to Costa, more than 180,000 certificates will be granted on that Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, throughout the IAD. The program will be carried in English, Spanish and French.
