Nearly 1,000 Seventh-day Adventists traveled to three main hilltops surrounding the city of Medellin, in Colombia, on Mar. 8, to pray and release solar balloons as they prepare for a city-wide impact next Saturday.
The project, coined as the “A Smile for Medellin”, will seek to bring smiles to the people of Medellin with acts of kindness, health expos, hospital and nursing home visitations and more.
“We are preparing our hearts for the great impact on Mar. 14, where we will begin our outreach around our churches and in key locations in the city,” said Pastor Eduardo Anaya, faculty at the Adventist Colombia University.
Church members prayed for local and national government authorities, for the upcoming impact activities, the most vulnerable population and for spiritual revival.
“Everything has been so pretty and we have been filled with the Holy Spirit,” said Ana Silva, a student at the Adventist university who will be volunteering Saturday. “We have been able to impact Medellin through intercessory prayers and we want to continue taking the light to this city, united, so that we can impact the lives of many people who do not know of Jesus,” she added.
The church will be joined by government officials for a special ceremony during the afternoon. Church members will participate in a blood donation campaign, prayer corners in the city, puppet performances, musical concerts, free medical talks and check-ups, business seminars and more, during the city-wide impact initiative.
