Thousands of Seventh-day Adventist young people from around the world will step out into their neighborhoods and communities on Sabbath, March 19, 2016, to engage in spreading kindness, compassion and hope.

The annual special day coined as Global Youth Day, is sponsored by the General Conference’s youth ministries department and motivates young people to get out of their comfort zones to “Be the Sermon” as they show the love of Jesus in their communities.

Young people throughout Inter-America’s 24 major church regions will be acting as Jesus hands and feet as they distribute meals and clothing, visit hospitals and nursing homes, hold health expos, donate blood, plant trees, sing and pray in public areas and much more.

Global Youth Day activities around the world will be featured during a 24-hour live transmission on the Hope Church Channel.

Pastor Al Powell, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America is very excited for the more than 1.5 million young people expected to be part of the worldwide church activity. “We want our young people to ‘be the sermon’ and to minister and come alive because Jesus is coming soon,” said Powell.

The Inter-American Division will host two hours of the live transmission from its headquarters in Miami, Florida, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Miami Time.

The program will be carried in Spanish and French on Inter-America’s webcast channel.

A Global Youth Day app that allows users to post pictures of their actions and geolocate it on a map is being updated for Android and iOS. Young people also are being encouraged to post on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. More information is available on the event website.
