The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Inter-American Health Food Company (IAHFC) launched a new magazine last week designed to promote a healthy lifestyle among church leaders and members across the territory.

The 28-page magazine, called “+Wellness,” is the first one ever published by IAHFC and the church’s health food ministry department and was distributed to church members, health food company managers and employees, institutions and clients across eight countries, said Ramon Adolfo Ruiz, health food ministry director for the church in Inter-America and editor of the publication.

“Jesus said that man should not eat by bread alone so the Inter-American Health Food Company designs, produces, distributes and sells healthy foods,” said Ruiz. “We should also do more to share our lifestyle philosophy to a world that needs it urgently.”

The new magazine will be printed twice a year and will feature the mission of a church leader in regards to the health food ministry, what IAHFC does to serve the church and the community, scientific advances in health, the latest trends in food, health and nutrition, new products, recipes, healthy foods for children and more.

“For the nearly 40 years of its existence, the IAHFC has continued with its mission to share the health reform message promoting and teaching about healthy foods and habits that the Seventh-day Adventist Church preaches so much about,” said Filiberto Verduzco, treasurer for the church in Inter-America and director overseeing IAHFC.

The institution also helps generate resources in support of evangelism initiatives and activities as well as support the Adventist educational system, Verduzco added.

The IAHFC manages over 700 employees in its 15 food factories and 24 distributing centers in eight countries including the Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela. The health food institution supports eight Adventist universities, includes a catalogue of more than 500 products and handles 40 tons of healthy foods every day.

+Wellness Magazine is available free of cost in printed format and online in English and Spanish. The next issue will be available in January 2017. The English version will be available online on October 6, 2016.
