Newly appointed Seventh-day Adventist administrators from Inter-America’s major church regions, or unions, and local fields will receive leadership development training this year through a live online program on Nov. 30, 2016. The one-day training session coined as Segment Leader Development (or SeLD) will provide orientation to not only high level regional administrators but will be open to leaders across institutions, schools and local church boards, organizers said.

“We have decided to embark upon a democratization of leaders development in which we are targeting a broader cross section of our leaders to be equipped for greater effectiveness in their leadership function,” said Pastor Balvin Braham, assistant to the president for the church in Inter-American and in charge of SeLD.

Usually dozens of newly appointed administrators travel to the Inter-American Division (IAD) Headquarters in Miami, Florida, for annual development training but the online program becomes a cost effective and time efficient method to reach the large and diverse group of leaders, added Braham.

The SeLD online program will include training on the role of unions, local fields and institutions in the organization, the function of policy in board and committee meetings, fiduciary responsibility and conflict of interest, among others. Q&A sessions will also take place during the six-hour event.

Inter-Amerca’s live online SeLD Program, on Nov. 30, will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Miami Time) and can be viewed in English, Spanish and French at webcast.interamerica.org
