This year’s Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASi) Convention promises to gather more than 400 Adventist business owners and professionals from across the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory in Panama City, Panama, Aug. 16-19, 2017. It promises to be the largest ASi convention yet, organizers said.

Themed “Committed to Wellness and Service,” the four-day event seeks to inspire and reaffirm ASi chapter members and attendees of their commitment to sharing Christ in their businesses and communities in support of the mission of the church.

This year, a new focus on wellness will be featured with the attendance of dozens of Adventist health professionals in addition to dozens of Adventist lawyers who will also attend, said Pastor Leon B. Wellington, secretary of ASi Inter-America.

“The health department joins the convention this year in order to focus on not only fostering good health among members and attendees but also in the communities where they live and serve,” said Wellington.

Several presentations from public health experts from Loma Linda University and Harvard University will take place, as well as forums and seminars on professional development and business management.

“This will be a great opportunity for a closer relationship among health professionals and those focused on public health in communities to join the ministry of ASi,” said Belkis Archbold, health ministries director for the church in Inter-America.

The convention’s opening program is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 4:00 p.m. Panama time.
