The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Inter-American Division (IAD) will hold its second largest leadership training for its church administrators and leaders on July 9-11, 2018, in Miami, Florida. More than 550 church administrators, pastors, educators, department directors, church elders and laypersons will sharpen their skills to be more innovative and effective during the event, coined as Segment Leadership Development (SeLD) Conference.
“What we are looking to see is how we can be more effective in delivering leadership for greater effectiveness and fulfilling the mission, or the goals of the organization,” said Pastor Balvin Braham, assistant to the IAD president in charge of leadership training.
Inter-America’s leadership development program is designed to guide organizational leaders to develop their leadership capacity, expose organizational leaders to trends, issues and best practices in organizational leadership and provide leaders a forum for networking and cross-cultural leadership exposure, according to Braham.
It’s about not just doing the same thing over and over, said Braham but about “a new perspective to leaders so they can dream up new approaches and new plans.”
The three-day event themed “A Leaders: Transformed, Innovative and Effective” will feature more than 30 speakers from the Adventist World Church, Loma Linda University, and Inter-America, during general sessions and dozens of seminars on effective church management, conflict resolution, ethical leadership, motivational techniques, developing leaders, statistical reporting and more.
According to Braham, church leaders attending the conference have been selected by their organizations and sponsored to attend, while some are paying their own way to attend the event.
On-site registration check-in for SeLD Conference begins July 9, from 12noon to 6:00 p.m. (Miami Time). The opening ceremony begins July 9, at 6:45 p.m. Sessions for July 10-11, run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:40 p.m.
