Young finalists representing Inter-America’s 24 major church territories will compete one last time during the last bible competition of the year on Dec. 1, 2018. Finalists will travel to Belize to test their knowledge of the books of Matthew, Mark and Chapters 6-15 of Ellen G. White’s Desire of Ages.

The event becomes the 15th annual territory-wide competition initiative in which thousands of young people throughout Seventh-day Adventist churches across the Inter-American Division have dug deep into assigned bible books and readings in an effort to enrich their spiritual life, church leaders said.

“In studying Matthew and Mark, the beginning books of the New Testament, young people are able to get a closer walk with Jesus, His life, passion and ministries,” said Pastor Al Powell, youth ministries director and main organizer of the event. “Youth people can also identify with ministering like Jesus did as they study the Bible and get involved in community outreach and evangelistic efforts throughout the year.”

Thousands of young people finished off regional competitions from the church, district, conference/mission and union levels by September-October, said Powell.

“We have been working with the local leaders in Belize to process travel visas for all of the union winners this year and are excited to gather them for this final competition this year,” said Powell.

Coined as “Bible Connection”, formerly Inter-America’s Bible Boom, the competition will see finalists answer some 50 multiple-choice questions similarly but carried out through a new computer software this year, said Powell.

The final competition will take place in Belize City on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. Miami Time (3:00 p.m. Belize Time).
