The youth ministries department of the Inter-American Division (IAD) will live stream a special Adventist Youth Society program on Sabbath, May 16, 2020, at 5:30 p.m., Miami Time. The event will highlight cities and countries across the IAD territory, include spiritual reflections from special guest speakers, as well as segments for young people to share their story, organizers said.
“It is important for young people to see how God has called people to be great men of faith,” said Pastor Al Powell, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America and main organizer of the event. Themed “Heroes of Faith”, the program “will allow young people to learn the story of our church leaders up close, their call, mission and purpose and their counsel to the youth,” he said.
It’s about understanding struggles and challenges church leaders have gone through in their lifetime, in their service to God, explained Powell. “It’s looking back to be able to look forward, being encouraged during the difficult times.”
“We want young people to identify and embrace their call and take the baton and be a light for Jesus to the world that needs hope in these challenging times,” Powell said.
Viewers will learn what other young people are doing to serve in their communities throughout the territory and will be encouraged to get more involved in the mission of the church through its ‘I Will Go Inter-America’ initiative.
The program will be carried in English, Spanish and French on Inter-American Division’s YouTube Channel.
