Finalists from each of Inter-America’s 24 unions will go head-to-head in this year’s Bible Connection finale. The event will be streamed live on Saturday, Nov. 20th, 2021, from Tuxtla Gutierrez, in Chiapas, Mexico.
“We are very excited to be able to again gather our 24 finalists online for our finale territory-wide competition initiative that has seen the involvement of so many young people, from Adventurers to university students,” said Al Powell, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America. This Bible Connection is all about getting more young people to get into the habit of studying their bibles and drawing important life lessons as they face daily challenges in their lives, he said.
During the finale, the participants will answer 80 questions based on Psalm 1-46 and the corresponding passages from the book Patriarchs and Prophets, written by Ellen G. White, co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Studying about David and how he faced challenges and stood up for God is one of the greatest lessons for young people today, said Powell. “We want our young people to stand up for God, even as they face all kinds of challenges, through what the pandemic has brought,” he said. “The bible promises can lift us up and teach us that God is there for us no matter what.”
This year’s finale competition will be once again held online due to travel restrictions because of the pandemic, said Powell. However, the program will be hosted from Chiapas, and run by a small technical team and hosts through the program.
“We have had two ‘Bible Connection’ finalists from Chiapas in the past several years and decided to host it from their media studio in the union headquarters,” explained Powell.
The event will be available to watch live at 4 p.m. Miami time in English, Spanish and French at webcast.interamerica.org
