Top Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders at the Inter-American Division (IAD) will hold a grand celebration to commemorate the 100 years of pioneering work in evangelism, education, and mission outreach during two special online programs live from the Dominican Republic, on Sabbath, Oct. 29, 2022.

Coined as Grand Centennial Celebration, the day’s event will close a year of numerous initiatives and activities that have permeated every corner of the IAD in thanksgiving for how God has led the IAD territory since 1922.

“As we continued ‘Celebrating his Providence, Affirming our Values’ theme all this year, it has helped us appreciate even more that we are a spiritual community that unites around the mission of preaching the everlasting gospel for discipleship-making and the vision of every believer living prepared for the Second Advent of Christ,” said Pastor Balvin Braham, vice president of the church in the IAD and main organizer of centennial celebrations this year.

The concluding centennial initiative is directly focused on “seeing souls won to Christ, recognizing and incentivizing over 6,000 individuals, institutions and organizations who have contributed to the achievement of mission, as well as inspiring the entire body of church members within the Division to achieve more through the grace of Christ,” explained Braham.

The morning worship service will feature baptismal charges by the IAD’s Executive Committee members who will connect live online with the 24 unions for territory-wide baptisms from the Higuey Adventist Central Church in the Dominican Republic, at 11:00 a.m. Miami Time.  In addition, the service will be highlighted by a spiritual message as well as an overview of the large regional evangelism efforts that grew the church during the first six months of the year as part of the centennial initiatives.

Afternoon service will feature a special recognition of dozens of church leaders, local members and former IAD Office elected leaders, music, spiritual messages, community impact, and more, from East Central University’s Sports Arena in San Pedro de Macoris.

Weekend activities will also include a review of the highlights of the past 10 decades in the church throughout the IAD, and precede the church’s Year-End Executive Committee Meetings Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
