Delegates confirm new Inter-American Division leader during GC Session in St. Louis.

Pastor Abner De Los Santos was elected today as president of the Inter-American Division (IAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.

Delegates confirmed Pastor De Los Santos following his nomination by the GC Session’s Nominating Committee.

Pastor De Los Santos has served as a General Vice President of the General Conference since 2015. Prior to that, he served as one of three vice presidents of the IAD from 2010 to 2015 and previously held the role of president of the North Mexican Union.

An ordained minister, De Los Santos holds a master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry from Andrews University and earned a Doctor of Ministry from the Inter-American Theological Seminary in 2012.

A native of Mexico, Pastor De Los Santos began his ministry as a district pastor and later served in key administrative roles in his home country, including conference executive secretary, union executive secretary, and union president.

With more than 39 years of denominational service, his ministry includes 24 years in Mexico, 10 years at the General Conference, and 5 years at the IAD headquarters in Miami, Florida.

He is married to Leticia, and together they have two adult children and four grandchildren.
