A simple question, “What do you have in your hand?” is reframing how church members approach mission in the digital age, as Andrea Rincón, social media content coordinator for the North Colombian Union, challenged viewers during the latest episode of Creative Disciples, aired March 22, 2026.
She explained that while many believe sharing God’s message requires professional equipment or advanced skills, effective digital ministry can begin with the devices people already use every day, transforming ordinary tools into platforms for sharing hope and reaching others with the gospel.
Rincón emphasized that technology should not replace the message but amplify it. “God often uses what we already have in our hands,” she said.
From Everyday Use to Intentional Mission
Throughout the episode, Rincón guided viewers step by step through practical ways to turn their cellphones into tools for ministry, focusing on simplicity rather than perfection.
She noted that many people already use their phones to take photos, record videos, and interact on social media, skills that can easily be redirected toward sharing faith-based content.
Design Made Simple
The first tool introduced was Canva, a graphic design platform that allows users to create content such as invitations, announcements, and inspirational messages.
Using a simple example, Rincón demonstrated how to select a template, edit text, and incorporate a Bible verse into a design. She showed how users can adjust fonts, colors, and layout, and then export the final image to share on social media or messaging platforms.
Her message was clear: anyone can create meaningful content without prior design experience.
Telling stories through video
Rincón then shifted to video editing using CapCut, guiding viewers through the process of combining multiple clips into a single video.
She explained how to trim footage, add transitions between scenes, and remove watermarks. One of the key features she highlighted was the ability to generate subtitles automatically—making videos more accessible and engaging for audiences who watch without sound.
By walking through each step, she showed that video creation can be both simple and impactful when approached with intention.
Leveraging AI for Presentations
The final tool, Gamma, introduced viewers to the use of artificial intelligence in creating presentations. Rincón demonstrated how users can paste text into the platform, organize ideas into slides, and generate visually appealing designs in seconds.
This, she explained, allows individuals to focus more on the message rather than the technical aspects of design.
A Mission-driven Approach to Digital Tools
Throughout the session, Rincón repeatedly reminded viewers that the goal is not technical excellence but mission.
She encouraged church members to begin where they are, using what they have, and to see digital spaces as opportunities to serve, connect, and share hope.
By the end of the episode, viewers were not only introduced to new tools but also challenged to adopt a mindset of intentional digital discipleship—where creativity, simplicity, and purpose come together to advance the church’s mission.
