For the second consecutive year, Granix, the Seventh-day Adventist food factory in Argentina, supplied healthy food options to hundreds of the Argentinian Navy trainees. More than 280 Navy instructors and trainees aboard the ARA Libertad frigate set sail on April 11 for a six-month training expedition. The training voyage is expected to take them across various ports in South, Central, and North America, including destinations in Brazil, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the United States.
The group includes midshipmen who are in the final stage of their training at the Naval Military Academy and are preparing to become future officers in Argentina’s Navy. Against that background, Granix foods provided them with supplies that included healthy cookies, crackers, and breakfast cereals, company managers recently shared. “At breakfast or during snacks, Granix will be part of the routine of all those who take part in this six-month international training,” company managers shared just before the frigate set sail.

The presence of healthy foods in this environment is aligned with a wholistic vision of health and well-being, Granix managers said. “In line with the principles promoted by the Adventist Church, caring for the body is part of a larger understanding of life, where everyday choices reflect values and convictions,” they explained.
Together with the food, spiritual books were distributed to instructors and trainees as part of their experience onboard, in the hopes that they might help them to reflect and grow spiritually during the long deployment. “Our goal is to care for them not only physically but also spiritually,” managers shared.

Training With Purpose
The Libertad sailing has played a central role in naval training for decades. Since its commissioning in 1963 as a steel-hulled, full-rigged sailing school ship, it has completed dozens of trips around the world.
The vessel has become a symbol of learning, discipline, and national presence across the ports where it stops, navy officials reported. “Each journey not only involves academic and professional training, but also a human experience that strengthens values such as responsibility, teamwork, and a commitment to serve,” they said.
