Seventh-day Adventist student is honored as the “best student” during a special ceremony after obtaining the first place during a national competition held earlier this month in Managua, Nicaragua.
Nathon Leopold Hilton, 16, received special recognition from Nicaragua’s Ministry of Education as the top scoring student in the nation during a special ceremony at the Chiquilistagua Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua, on Sep. 13, 2012. The honor was bestowed based on his performance on a national test on mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry.
Leopold, an eleventh grader, became the first student from the Nicaragua Adventist Vocational School to receive such recognition, says Felipe Cordero, principal of the school.
“We are excited for Nathon and that this recognition highlighted the school in this district,” said Cordero. “Our faculty staff worked hard to prepare our students in all the subjects and also spent time in prayer.
The school plans to hold a special program to honor all their students who made district and zone finals in various subjects, says Cordero.
Nicaragua Vocational Adventist School (Colegio Vocacional Adventista de Nicaragua) has more than 200 students enrolled in its primary and secondary school which is operated by the Central Adventist Mission in Managua.
