Tegucigalpa, Honduras…[Walter Ciguenza/Libna Stevens]
During a special ceremony on Jan. 24, 2007, church leaders and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Central Honduras Mission inaugurated a new building which will house the headquarter office of its more than 85,000 church membership.
The event brought more than 300 church members as well as top leaders of the Inter-American Division Headquarters for the special dedication program and ribbon-cutting ceremony in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Pastor Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America, spoke to those gathered and encouraged them to continue being committed to seeking the lost.
“This new building has been a project blessed by God and it should never be divorced from churches, because it has the same purpose, to save souls,” he said. “If a neighbor has a problem, he can enter this place and receive advice for his daily life.”
The church mission office needed to relocate to Tegucigalpa to better care for its 121 churches and congregations, according to Pastor Leito.
“For many years the mission office had been in Valle de Angeles, too far for the members to reach,” he adds. “A few years ago it was decided to bring it back to Tegucigalpa, and this beautiful office was built to house the mission office.”
The program was seasoned with musical numbers, a dedication prayer and a tour of the offices.
The new Central Honduras Mission office building is made up of eight offices, a conference room and a 100-seat auditorium.
Organized in 2000, the Central Honduras Mission is one of two church mission offices which belong to the Mid-Central American Union–which covers Honduras, the Bay Islands and El Salvador.
