The Spring Meetings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church ended on Wednesday, April 4 with a report from the nomination commiteee to fill four vacant positions at the church's world headquarters. Juan R. Prestol, treasurer for the church's North American region, was elected undertreasurer for the world church. The position was vacated by Steve Rose who will join Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington as the new vice president for finance.
Paul Douglas was voted as the new director of the world church's General Conference's Accounting Services (GCAS). Douglas was previously director of GCAS in the Inter-American region of the church. The post of associate director of GCAS for the world church, will be filled by Lucas da Silva, formerly associate GCAS director for the South American region. And as Dr. Humberto Rasi leaves the post of chief editor for Dialogue magazine–a magazine for Adventist students studying at secular schools–Dr. Lisa Beardsley, associate director the world church's Education department, takes his place.
In a separate action, the Executive Committee received a report on a plan to enlarge the Adventist Television Network studio at the General Conference complex in Silver Spring, Maryland to accommodate the growing needs of the Hope Channel ministry. The estimated cost of an enlarged studio is US$4 million to be funded from available building and equipment funds and donations already committed to the project.
