Seventh-day Adventist leaders in Trinidad welcomed the top church leaders from Inter-America during a short reception at the Piarco International Airport in Port of Spain, Trinidad, earlier today.

Nearly 20 church leaders traveled to Trinidad to take part in the special dialogue program called Facing the Issues, where top leaders hear and speak to concerned church members from several church regions on issues about church initiatives, ministries, and church organization.

“We have been looking forward to this treat for a while now,” said Pastor Eugene Daniel, president of the church in the Caribbean Union to Inter-American Division leaders. “We want you to receive a royal welcome and as we gather together to face the issues, we look forward to the challenge that we'll see. We know that the Caribbean Union will be better because of this activity,” he added as a local Adventist steel drum band played music.

“We thank you for your music because it brings us closer together,” said Pastor Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America. “We are certain that this [program] will be a blessing, for we didn't come to overwhelm the church but to learn to know the church better, because we always talk to leaders and is now time to talk to the church.”

Facing the Issues in Trinidad will include representatives of three church regions in Belize, Caribbean and West Indies. The program will be will be streamed live over the internet from the church's University of Southern Caribbean Universities auditorium on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. Trinidad Time/Eastern Daylight's Time (Miami Time).
