Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist teachers from throughout the educational system in the Inter-American Division territory will convene for the largest and most comprehensive teacher's congress ever held in the region. The special congress will also include school principals, university administrators and church leaders during a four-day event on Sep. 6-9, 2009, in Cancun, Mexico.

“This teacher congress is very important because it will bring together a body of teachers from our 17 unions and 12 universities where we can share the same objectives and allow us to work together to design and establish strategies for the benefit of the Adventist education and the church itself in our division territory,” says Dr. Moises Velazquez, education director for the church in Inter-America, and organizer of the event.

Under the theme “Let Your Light Shine”, the congress will cater to teachers, principals and educators in the three levels of education—primary, secondary and university level, according to Dr. Velazquez. It will feature nearly two dozen seminars each day by Adventist educators from throughout the Adventist World Church.

The opening ceremony, as well as other scheduled programs and seminars, will be streamed live over the internet during the four-day conference.

Schedule of online events:

Opening ceremony begins Sep. 6, at 6:45 p.m. Cancun Time or 7:45p.m. Eastern Daylight's Time (Miami time).

Daily devotionals, general assembly, and seminars begin Sep. 7-9, at 8:00 a.m. Cancun time or 9:00 a.m. EDT (Miami time).

Evening spiritual message, general assembly and cultural presentations begin at 6:45 p.m. Cancun time or 7:45 p.m. EDT (Miami time).
