Inter-America’s Youth Ministries department will finish the quinquennium with the Super Bible Bowl final competition next week at the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarter office in Miami, Florida. The event will take place as top church leaders gather for the IAD mid-year business meetings May 18-20.
The winner from each of the previous five Bible Bowl competitions will compete for the title of Super Bible Bowl Champion and a chance to be a youth delegate during the church’s upcoming General Conference Session in Atlanta, Georgia, in June. All expenses will be paid for the winner’s trip to Atlanta.
“The Bible bowls we have held these last six years have brought tremendous blessings and unity among our young people,” says Pastor Bernardo Rodriguez, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America. “When we study the Word of God every day, we are champions in Christ Jesus–that’s been our goal this quinquennium.”
That goal has motivated thousands of young Adventists throughout Inter-America to study the Word of God.
“We have seen a significant increase in the study of the Bible, and believe that nearly one million youth have participated in the Bible bowl initiative every year” Pastor Rodriguez adds.
The five finalists will answer about 50 questions on the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes, Isaiah, and Revelation, during the two-hour competition.
The competition will be streamed live over the internet beginning at 3:30 p.m. Miami Time, on Thursday, May 20, 2010. The live program will be held in Spanish.
