Top Seventh-day Adventist leaders at the Inter-American Division (IAD) Headquarters office in Miami, Florida, recently granted Commissioned Minister’s Credentials to five of its church employees during a special ceremony on May 20, 2010.

The ceremony was held to officially confer the special credential to IAD employees Ivelisse Herrera, associate treasurer with 20 years of service; Tony De La Mota associate treasurer with 24 years of service; as well as Inter-America’s Publishing Association employees Anita Rodriguez Customer Service vice president with 17 years of service, Elizabeth Christian, financial vice president with 22 years of service, and Francesc Gelabert, Editorial vice president with 32 years of service.

In order to be considered for the commissioned minister’s credentials, the employee must be in regular standing in the Seventh-day Adventist Church with more than five years of service, and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the assigned responsibilities.

According to the church’s working policy, commissioned ministers may serve as associates in pastoral care, Bible instructors, treasurers, departmental directors, associate and assistant departmental directors, institutional chaplains, presidents and vice-presidents of major institutions, auditors, and directors for Christian Record Services International Inc. In addition, such commissioned ministers are not normally on the path of ordination.

Before the prayer of commission, Pastor Hector Sanchez, ministerial secretary for the church in Inter-America, charged those being commissioned to continue their commitment to serving the church and to continue fulfilling the mission of the church with a clear vision and dedicated passion for the Lord.
